Welcome to My Blog

Welcome to the launch of my new website and blog! I am a yoga, meditation, and music teacher and am excited to share some of my knowledge through this blog. I am an RYT-200 Teacher with a certification in Kidding Around Yoga (KAY). Currently, I teach at a music school in Pittsburgh, PA and enjoy freelancing around the area.

Why am I starting this blog?

I want this blog to serve as an educational resource for new and seasoned yogis, as a place where I can share tools for yoga and meditation as well as thoughts regarding the intersection of wellness and arts. With a background in music and an avid visual art enthusiast, I believe that connecting with creativity is an essential part of wellness that is often overlooked. Engaging in creative activities can increase focus and ‘flow,’ similar to what is experiences in a state of meditation. On the other hand, meditation and yoga can help calm the mind to be more effective while participating in creative endeavors. I personally had this experience when I began meditating – I found that I had more focus and confidence as I approached my piano playing. Today, it is the combination of meditation, yoga, and creativity that helps me stay balanced and fulfilled in life.

Who is this blog for?

Anyone! I believe yoga and meditation are for everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, etc. Everyone can benefit from more methods of integrating the body and mind.  In my posts I will strive to share content to that it can be related to all different people. For example, many pranayama (breathing) techniques can be easily adapted to make them fun and engaging for young children. The resources and techniques I share can easily be adapted, and relevant regardless of if you are a parent looking for new ideas to use with your kids, or a more confident yoga practitioner looking to expand your knowledge.

How can you get involved?

I would love to hear from you! If you are looking for a yoga class and want live instruction, join one of my virtual yoga classes or sign up for a private session. Feel free to comment below with any topics you are interested in learning about in a future blog post. Any don’t forget to follow my blog to stay up to date on the latest posts.

Namaste –

Lydia
